This activity is about supervising firestopping teams on site applying aerosol applied 1-part fire resisting foams for firestopping of linear joint seals. This includes arranging for work to take place at site, allocating individuals to carry out work, ensuring that the appropriate resources are available to installation teams, resolving problems and communicating information about the progress of works. It also includes monitoring the quality of firestopping installations as they are being carried out, to ensure that the work of firestopping teams complies with the requirements set out within the project specification. Polyurethane (PU) based foam gap fillers are usually supplied in an aerosol can with a dispenser to guide and shape the resulting mix. The foam sets at room temperature to provide a seal that can fit around difficult to access constructions.
