This standard is about using, removing and storing access equipment up to six meters for work operations, including ladders, stepladders / platform steps, proprietary towers, podiums and mobile scaffold towers. This includes interpreting information, adopting safe, healthy and environmentally responsible work practices, selecting and using components, tools and equipment.

  • Maintenance of relevant qualifications / accreditations in relation to access and working platforms used within the workplace

To provide evidence, you may complete:

  • In date access platform training - IPAF
  • Within 3-year renewal period
  • In date access platform training - PASMA
  • Within 3-year renewal period

You must:

  • Know what the accident reporting procedures are and who is responsible for making the report
  • Know how emergencies should be responded to and who should respond
  • Know why, when and how health and safety control equipment should be used
  • Know the organisational procedures developed to report and rectify inappropriate information and unsuitable resources, and how they are implemented
  • Know the organisational procedures to solve problems with the information and why it is important they are followed
  • Know organisational security procedures for tools, equipment and personal belongings
  • Know how to protect work from damage and the purpose of protection
  • Know why disposal of waste should be carried out safely and how it is achieved
  • Know how to comply with environmentally responsible work practices to meet current legislation and official guidance

You must be able to:

  • Interpret the given information relating to the work and resources to confirm its relevance
  • Comply with the given, relevant legislation and official guidance to carry out your work and maintain safe and healthy work practices
  • Select the required quantity and quality of resources for the methods of work
  • Comply with the given contract information to carry out the work efficiently to the required specification
  • To include two of the following equipment types: ladders, stepladders / platform steps, proprietary towers, podiums, mobile scaffold towers.
  • Comply with organisational procedures to minimise the risk of damage to the work and surrounding area
  • Complete the work within the allocated time, in accordance with the programme of work
